Together, this dream duo mesmerized the audience. The guitar work and singing was a joy to hear and see.

I've attended SUUSI for 9 years and have always been impressed by the quality of the performers but Pat Wictor's performance was my favorite ever.  What a unique mix of talent and presence.  Emerson said "Nothing is deep like Nature is deep.  She shows us only surfaces but she is a million fathoms deep."  Pat somehow personifies that.

Pat,

Was blown away by your performances in Radford last week. I took a short video of the end of "Well, Well, Well" with Joe & Greg and watching it again gives me chills. Been digging all 3 of your CDs and can't wait to see you in Morristown NJ next month.

Thanks for the music,
Michael

Pat:

I'm so looking forward to seeing (hearing!) you in Radford VA at the end of this month.  Hoping it is big fun for you.  Sure is a treat for us!

Missed you at the Festival for the Eno in Durham NC this year, but to my delight Ellis was there, and of course she was awe-inspiring.  (For those who were there, I was the woman quietly weeping over "How Would It Be.")

Hi Pat,

I remember you from the "Tall Tales" days with Jim Ypsilantis (Jim, who I met during a Jury Duty session years ago).  Just wanted to say I'm glad you are still knee-deep in music & I hope you & Jim are still collaborating on songs!!!  You two were very good together!!!

Pat, thanks for a great performance at the South Shore Folk Music Club! Keep polishing that 3/4 version of Och's "Changes, " because it **really** works well.  In my mind's ear, I hear a cello on the custom section you created... I'll send the idea....

Pat - Thanks for the music - I live in Thailand but was in Ann Arbor, Michigan USA just this past October and had a chance to see you live. While I am a massive Kelly Joe Phelps fan, attending the show at The Ark allowed me the opportunity to listen to yet another fantastic musician and songwriter. Everytime I see a new performer my own music changes ever so slightly, as if through osmosis I incoporate the new sounds into my thought patterns. I will forever remember my first "Pat" show and hope to see you play again when I return to North America. Be well.

Just an Hello from FRANCE !I like very much your music and your voice.I try to learn playing lap-slide, and I have one questionWhat about your tunings (When I go...etc...)May you create a web page with your tunings ??

Hi Serge!  I'm very glad to know you are listening, all the way across the Atlantic!  I will take you up on your suggestion of putting the tunings on my website--never thought of it before!  I can tell you that I mostly use open D (DADF#AD), but several tunes have variants.  "When I Go" is in DADEAC, capo'd at the 6th fret.  Let me get to work on that web page... Stay in touch, Serge!   -Pat

Pat , I spoke with you once. You are great . I have to give your style a try. It's beautiful and my arthritic left hand fingers may mandate it !

Hey Joe--
Yes, I remember our conversation.  Thanks for the heartfelt words! Let me know how it goes! I've encountered hand problems over the years, and lap slide, I've found, is the most ergonomic guitar playing I've done.  -Pat

Hi Pat, I became acquainted with your music at Old Songs and it was my daughter who pestered you for autographs.I just wanted to express my apreciation for your music and your person. You expressed a stage presence and kindness that was wonderful to see and is a lesson to performers everywhere. We purchased "Waiting for the Water" at the festival and it has many of your songs which we love but I am also interested in one that would feature your slide playing which I found mesmerizing.

Hi Bruce--A pleasure meeting you and your daughter at Old Songs. What a wonderful festival! Thanks too for the kind words.
The Cd you have, "Waiting for the Water," has lap slide guitar front and center on every tune except "Love is the Water," which is a cappella, "Death Letter," which is bottleneck slide on a resonater guitar, and "Dover Town," which only has slide as embellishment. I avoid many typical slide guitar licks, and the big Hawaiian / Looney Tunes slide licks, so it may not hit you immediately that you're hearing slide guitar... :-) -Pat

I have seen you "live" twice now and loved each performance. After my enquiry, you explained to the audience trhe story behind your Lucas Younger song.Your three CDs are magical and I am looking forward to seeing you at the Herndon Folk Club In September. You are up there with Dougie Maclean and other folk greats.

Hi Graham and Bruce--
I had such a great time at Old Songs! It's a very special festival because of how engaged and knowledgeable everyone is about traditional music--so many audience members play and sing themselves. And, the friendliness and genuine warmth that people share is energizing and uplifting. I loved it, and Cheryl Prashker did too. We'd love to return, as often as they'll have us!

Thanks for the kind words! I look forward to seeing you, and all the folks we met at Old Songs, soon! :-) Pat

I met Pat at acousticlongisland.com's open mic in St James, Long Island.  I had been so fortunate as to already be familiar with his brand of music.  He was in no rush as he chatted with me that night.  I bought a CD and it is THE BEST CD I have heard in ages - "Heaven is so high..."

Bless those hands.  What a man - a true living legend with style.  I saw it coming that night - though I had to leave before catching his show - I gotta baby coming and must see to my work - but I heard the live podcast from above-named website today - and cried within one minute.

This man is the real deal - step aside Ry Cooder and all fore-fathers here is the greatest finger-stylist/singer ever lived.

hey- I just found you- you're playing at Passim next month with my good friend Ellis.  I guess I'll see you then.  I am intrigued to read your comments about 'Bowling Alone,' and the concept of social capital, so I'm going to go buy that book today since I was going to the bookstore anyhow.  I'll let you know what I think.

Your new web site is up! Wonderful!! I love your first newsletter - reading what you listen to and what you're reading now. Thanks for sharing that.

Greg and I of BUTTERFLY SKY are looking forward to sharing a bill with you at Uncommon Ground on Sunday, December 3, 2006. I know it will be a fulfilling, beautiful, soulful night of music with great energy woven throughout. Having Cheryl Prashker and Joe Jencks playing with you will just add to the yummy-ness!

Many, many good wishes to you for health and happiness in all ways and for continued musical success. You can count me as a big fan.

And for anyone who hasn't heard Pat's new album, "Heaven Is So High... And I'm So Far Down," it's worth a trip to his music page or CDBaby.com to take a listen. You might just find youself clicking on the"Buy the CD" button! (That's an unsolicited endoresement, by the way!!)

Buona fortuna, Pat, and see you down the road.
