Health Update + Streaming Concerts w/ Noah Zacharin May 7 and May 9!
Wednesday, April 29, 2020
I hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. I keep seeing more and more people I know getting sick, others losing family members and friends, and all of us feeling the wearying weight of social distancing, isolation, and for some of us, diminished employment. What lies ahead now feels harder. There is no certainty about so many things of vital importance. I remain grateful for all the health care workers and first responders risking themselves daily to get us through this. Please keep reaching out to loved ones and valued friends - let's keep leaning on each other. Kindness, love, and support are not platitudes or buzzwords. These are things we're all going to need to give and receive in abundance.
I have three pieces of good news:
1) I got the results of two tests, for the Coronavirus and for the antibodies to the virus. My Covid-19 test was NEGATIVE - I am no longer sick or contagious.
Huzzah! And,
2) my test for antibodies to the virus was POSITIVE - I do have antibodies. But, it's not at all clear yet what that means. It likely confers some protection against the virus - but for how long and to what degree, that isn't knowable yet. Unfortunately, I'm prohibited from donating blood, having lived in the U.K. in 1980's (out of concern over "mad cow" disease). There will be other ways that I can help out. I'm very slowly regaining energy and stamina, though still - after 4 weeks without a fever - far short of my usual levels.
What's good news #3? I'm doing some streaming concerts! I have two coming up next week, and I hope you can tune in. My mini-tour in May with Noah Zacharin, a singer-songwriter friend from Toronto, has been moved online. Noah has drunk from some of the same creative wells I have - Piedmont blues, jazz, poetry - and we have an easy musical and personal rapport. More about Noah at www.noahsong.com We're going to swap songs and share two evenings next week, and I'm looking forward to it. I have a slew of new songs to share!
