Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
Dear friends and fans--
Next week I'll be driving up to the Berkshires to attend the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, one of the finest, most welcoming music festivals in the eastern U.S. I wanted to extend an invitation to all of you to attend. (Sorry, I can't get you comp tickets! ;-) Many of you already know Falcon Ridge. If you don't, stop by their website:
http://www.falconridgefolk.com
Playing on the mainstage this year will be top singer-songwriters: Dar Williams, Chris Smither, Janis Ian, Eliza Gilkyson, Martin Sexton, John Gorka, Vance Gilbert, Lowen & Navarro. Also appearing are some bands you may know (or should know): Gandalf Murphy, Crooked Still, The Strangelings, Guy Mendilow Band, and others.
I'll be going as a listener, and also to cheer on some of my good friends who are playing Falcon Ridge this year: Red Molly, Joe Crookston, and Anthony Da Costa.
If you can't make Falcon Ridge this year, I'd recommend making plans for next year. My wife and I first went ten years ago--our first folk festival, as listeners-- and it's remained dear to our hearts, even as I've gotten to play and attend numerous other festivals.
And if you ARE attending, I hope to see you there! You'll see me playing a song or two after-hours in the campgrounds, at the FOCUS campsite, Budgiedome, and Tribes Hill camp, and on Sunday at 1pm in the Acoustic Live tent on the concourse. My dear friend Andrew McKnight will be playing around the campground--come hear him!
AND, if you're attending Falcon Ridge, I want to ask your help. I'd love to return to Falcon Ridge as a performer, and there's a couple things you can do that will help make that happen:
1) Tell 'em you'd like me to return. Here's how: Get a survey form from the information booth, and write my name in the box where it asks which performers you want back at the festival. (Don't forget to turn the form in, filled out. ;-)
2) Buy my new CD, "Sunset Waltz," from the merchandise tent. Heck, buy a few as gifts. :-) CD sales onsite are taken into account when the festival considers future bookings. Besides, you'll want a copy of this CD for yourself anyway, right? ;-)
Have a wonderful, music-filled summer, folks, and I look forward to seeing you soon, at Falcon Ridge or elsewhere!
Warm regards,
Pat Wictor

P.S. I'm working on another issue of "A Few Choice Words." It'll come soon!
P.P.S. Everyone on this list signed up for it. If you'd like off, please reply with "Unsubscribe" in the subject heading. Thanks! -PW
