Hi everyone -
This Sunday is my last in-person show of the year, and it's going to be a celebration of friendship, singing, playfulness, beauty, hope and humor. Kaleidoscope, the new vocal improv quartet I've co-founded with a few friends (more below) is doing a concert on Sunday afternoon in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. Each show we do is a special event, a non-repeatable occasion. You'll be glad you heard us, if you can make it. Please spread the word to friends and family.

Here's more on Kaleidoscope, from our bio:
"Kaleidoscope is Pat Wictor, Deborah Latz, Jeannette Miller and Jesse Goldman - four fearless vocalists who improvise pieces that surprise and delight. The four met in the Circle Singing community of vocal improvisers started by Bobby McFerrin and members of his Voicestra. Assuming roles normally played by instruments, from vocal percussion to bass or horn lines to soloing, the music they create is by turns soulful, whimsical, lyrical, playful and funny. From moment to moment, you never know what will happen, and neither do they!
"There could be interactive moments where you get to influence - or participate in - the music making. Be prepared for a myriad of colorful soundscapes and high–flying musical fun!"

On a personal note, many of you know probably know me from concerts I've done in the area singing (composed) songs, performing as guy-with-guitar (or slide guitar), or in various collaborations (with Brother Sun, Reggie Harris, or Deborah Latz). I love doing that, and I'll continue to write songs, and keep exploring the guitar and adding new capabilities on it.
In the last decade I've found a whole new community of friends and collaborators in the international vocal improv community that Bobby McFerrin and his associates have been a big part of. The music is all a cappella, and the pieces are all created spontaneously, with everyone listening and creating together. It's an extraordinary kind of music and performance to experience, as a listener or a performer. Just voices and imagination! I find it to be exhilarating, and a powerful affirmation of what humans can do when they listen and play well together. I know I need that right now, and maybe you do too! Even if you're not sure what the heck this might be, I want to invite you to find out - you'll be glad you did!
I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving, and hope to see you at the concert afterwards.
Thanks for listening, and best to you always -
