Pat Wictor in Alexandria, VA Thursday 5/14 & Live recording! & Spring Gulch 5/15
Dear folks--
This is my first show in Northern Virginia in a while, and I hope you can make it!
Thursday, May 14, 2009, 7:00pm
The Athenaeum
201 Prince Street (at the corner of South Lee Street)
Alexandria, VA 22314
703-548-0035

Purchase tickets online (highly recommended!):

David LaFleur, a fine rootsy songwriter from West Virginia that I've known many years, will open the show, and join me for a tune at the end. (www.davidlafleurmusic.com).
This venue is a beautiful listening room with natural reverb, and that's precisely why I'll be recording the show! Come on down and get your applause and cheers on tape! (Everything's digital, but you know what I mean!). I'm recording a bunch of shows, and taking the best of what I capture and releasing it on CD, hopefully in the early fall. Got some new songs that I'm proud of, and some re-working of older songs, my own and others.
MD folks:
Those of you in MD and closer to Southern PA, the next evening I'm playing at the Spring Gulch Folk Festival, near York, PA. For some of you, that's an easy-to-moderate drive, and it's going to be a great show. Percussionist Cheryl Prashker accompanies me, and we're sharing the bill with James Keelaghan, an outstanding Canadian songwriter:
Friday, May 15, evening set
Spring Gulch Folk Festival
475 Lynch Road
New Holland, PA 17557
866-864-8524
http://www.springgulch.com/folkfestival.cfm
Also playing the rest of that weekend: Mike Cross, Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines, Mustard's Retreat, Bob Franke, CJ Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band, SONiA, and numerous others (I strongly recommend Hoots & Hellmouth, and Shannon Lambert Ryan, both Philadelphia-area acts that update traditional music and do outstanding shows).
Check the website for ticket rates--they have daily as well as weekend rates, camping and no-camping too.
More news:
Been doing more recording, this time in the studio, on a special two-song benefit EP for a Philadelphia-area women's shelter called Women In Transition. The EP features two songs, my own "A Visit With Pat Scott," and Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changing," both recorded with a gathering of great Philly-area musicians that we're calling "Philly Friends." There's a slim chance that I'll have the CD with me in time for the gig. More likely is that the CD will be up on my website in a few weeks, and you can purchase it (or the downloads) then. All proceeds will go to Women In Transition, which helps women facing domestic abuse and substance abuse problems. (www.helpwomen.org)
More on that at the show, and when I get it up on the website.
Hope to see you at the Athenaeum!
Warm regards,
Pat
